Symptoms

Using a report with a column selector view results in the following message:

INVALID_EXPRESSION_ERR: DOM XPath Exception 51

This happens only with Safari and Chrome browsers.

This issue can be reproduced at will with samples sales Lite rpd on Safari and Chrome using the steps below:

1. Create an analyis with Time Per Name year , Brand and Revenue
2. View Results.
3. Click on New View->Other Views->Column Selector
4. Edit the Column Selector and tick the check box 'Include Selector' for Per Name Year on column 1 and then tick the check box for 'Include Selector' for Brand on column 2.
5. It will show the message : INVALID_EXPRESSION_ERR: DOM XPath Exception 51

Cause

This issue has been identified and verified as (unpublished) Bug:9223282 - SAFARI 4 : ADDING COLUMN SELECTOR GIVES ERROR

Solution

There is no fix for this issue in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 and OBIEE 11.1.1.6. This issue will be fixed in OBIEE 11.1.1.7

To workaround this issue, use Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers.
