Solution
Q: Will the Daylight Saving Time (**) change impact my GoldenGate environment? Do I have to stop the GoldenGate components to make the change to my system?A: In general, people do not really change their system clocks; they only change the time zone and/or Daylight Saving Time (DST) setting on the system. That is, the system GMT time won't change in this case. It should only be the offset they use to convert the GMT time to local time. GoldenGate only uses the GMT time to track the commit timestamp, so it is not a problem at all.
We have never had any problem or issues reported from any existing customer on the daylight saving time change. And we have done internal testing to verify this.
However, if your system administrator is doing things differently, i.e., physically changing the system clock, then it is a different story. If that is the case, GoldenGate will still be replicating fine, but you will see weird LAG information after the system clock changes.
Note that DST changes will affect some GoldenGate column conversion functions such as @DATENOW(), which returns the current local date and time, adjusted for DST.
** Due to the (United States) Energy Policy Act of 2005, beginning in 2007, the United States will begin observing DST from the second Sunday in March until the first Sunday in November.
