How to use HFMApplicationBackUpUtility to backup an application in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM)?

Solution

The HFM Application Backup Utility is designed to allow users to extract the database schema and data from an HFM Application to a serialized flat file. The utility also provides the functionality to mask the extracted data and text labels. This allows the client to provide a backup of their application database to Oracle support without the worry of sharing company information.

Please be advised of the following:

• Be aware that running this utility against a production environment, may cause performance issues with HFM when it is running.  Otherwise it will not affect the underlying a application.  It is highly recommended that you log out all users and stop all HFM processes prior to taking the backup.
• The utility is ONLY for Oracle Support to retrieve a backup of a customer's HFM application.  There is NO other supported use for this utility.

• This utility should not be used for HFM Application backup to move applications between environments.

• Please use the latest version of the Backup Utility for ALL HFM Versions.

HFMApplicationBackUpUtility is not included as a part of EPM installation. The 32-bit and 64-bit version of the utility and detailed usage instructions are attached to this article.
